Emily uses spiritual counseling as an overarching framework for empowering people to have healing and transformative experiences by connecting with their bodies through the twin modalities of yoga and meditation. Emily specializes in working with hurting and vulnerable populations, including people with and affected by cancer. She teaches individuals as well as mixed-level classes, blending dynamic movement with restoratives, offering interfaith, holistic, wellness-based spiritual care in educational, medical, clinical, institutional, and faith-based environments. Emily wrote her Master’s dissertation, with honors, on the use of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras can be used to maintain yoga’s spiritual authenticity and lead students on a path to wholeness.

A 200-hour multi-style E-RYT with Yoga Alliance, Emily has been practicing Hatha yoga since 1999 and trataka meditation since 2008.

Created a new, now institutionalized, yoga program for the Divinity school community, instructing all level students in yoga, meditation, and wellness from a spiritual perspective in 60-90 minute bi-weekly classes. Wrote Master’s dissertation on using Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras as a way to maintain yoga’s spiritual authenticity and create a path to wholeness.
